  Dr. Stephens is my families dentist (four generations). He was (still is) my dentist as a child beginning in the late 70s early 80s. My Mother, Father, Brother, Sister, my two kids 14 and 22 and Grandma in her 80s are all patients of Dr. Stephens. I had Med-cal a few years back and I was forced to take my kids elsewhere my Daughter had a cavity and my son needed a cleaning, it should have been no problem. However she was in so much pain the tears were running, the Dentist said "hold on we are almost done, you can handled it, I gave you two shots thats should continue to help the pain we are almost done". I over heard this Dentist talk to her receptionist about closing procedures making sure she could handle it alone because she was in a hurry and had to be somewhere after she was done with this patient (my daughter). I was so upset, the dentist was working on my daughter and I said to the receptionist "The reason she is not stopping and giving her another injection is because it would take more time" of course the receptionist said "no,no" I told the receptionist that I would like to speak with the dentist after the visit she said she be done in about 10 min. I went to use the restroom and when I came out the doctor had gone, slipped out the back door and left this receptionist/assistant to give aftercare instructions, (Unbelievable). My son had a simple cleaning earlier that day and complained how rough she was and his teeth hurt. She was the Hygienist and the dentist.(Different) The office was one big room with 10 chairs lined up in a row, although it was a new building with new equipment, it was cold, messy and unfriendly. The exact opposite of Dr. Stephens office. I'd rather pay out of pocket then ever take one of my kids to a place like that again. And of course my kids said they only wanted Dr. Stephens. My son said when Dr. Stephens did his cavity it did not hurt at all, comparing it to the cleaning which I told him would be fine. (Wrong) Not only are Dr. Stephens fees reasonable the office staff always arranges a payment plan that fits my financial situation. The Doctor and his assistance take time to explain everything there going to due and what to expect and after the procedure he speaks to you about aftercare and follow-up, answering every question you have not rushing through to get to the next patient, and he is busy. I don't know how he remains so calm and still makes his patients feel like VIPs. Everyone there makes you feel that way. Even though there were a couple of embarrassing times I was not able to make a payment and before I was able to catch up on my sons bill he is in pain and needed to be seen ASAP. There were no snippety comments, we were still treated like a VIP. There have been so many more remarkable situations in the treatment and care, I can't thank Dr. Stephens and his team enough for the care, compassion and quick response for my families dental needs.
